I think more information will make this clearer.
It is a romantic view that Hassan 'found the light' and realised that not only was his position in the US army untenable but he must do his 'duty' by killing as many of our enemy as he can. However, one cannot but help draw an analagy with 9/11. That event brought home to American public opinion the so called necessity for US global intervention. We may debate as to who was responsible but it surely served American interests. This latest episode also serves those same interest. With flagging support for the American war in Afghanistan, the killing of American troops on home soil was a shock to the US psyche. |

the recent Virginia Tech massacre by the Korean student, Seung-Hui Cho, took 11 minutes killed 33 (including one Muslim professor who was getting into halaqats with the shebaab) and injured 23 What do both have in common? Among the illiterate American talk radio/trailer park crowd BOTH are alleged to have been done by al Quaeda. There are dozens of blogs with crackpot theories attempting to "prove" that both Columbine and the VT massacres were the first acts of al quaeda, OBL, Zarqawi, etc.. The above crackpot theories are an example of what happens when you lose touch with reality. |

It's quite ridiculous. Hasan coincidentally received his masters in chemistry at Virginia Tech, famous for the infamous Seung-Hui Cho. Seung-Hui’s sister curiously works for a State Department office that oversees billions of dollars in American aid for Iraq. |

We can't assume conspiracy because it may serve US interests anymore than we can rule conspiracy out without knowing the full facts.

Those Americans at Fort Hood were going to Afghanistan to kill Muslims, so is it such a bad thing that Major Malik struck first for the Muslims??
