The teaching of Islam in English universities is based on "out-of-date and irrelevant issues", a government commissioned report has concluded.
Academic Ataullah Siddiqui's review paints a picture of Islamic studies departments where the post-9/11 and 7 July world has largely passed them by.

It argues that more emphasis should be placed on Islam in a modern context.

Ministers will now label Islamic studies a "strategic subject" because of its role "in preventing extremism".

The review was commissioned by the DfES to assess the way in which Islam is taught and to improve support and advice available to Muslim students.

It was published as Tony Blair prepared to give a speech on Islam and the importance of British Muslims in London.

Higher Education Minister Bill Rammell said the review provided a helpful contribution to a particularly complex and sensitive subject.

"The effective and accurate delivery of Islamic studies within our universities is important for a multitude of reasons including wider community cohesion and preventing violent extremism in the name of Islam," he said.

This was why an extra £1m was being invested in the training of imams and why Islamic Studies was being designated a "strategic subject", he added.

This might come as a SHOCK for some readers, but not to me as these ideas have been going around for a while now, and have heard Tariq Ramadan say exactly the same thing.

That we need to stop looking at Islam through a ARABIC view and look at it through EUROPEAN views. Why the Kufaar are trying to do this is because the know that they cannot change Islam in the Arab/Muslim World, so they are trying to change it in the west and then import it to the Muslim world.

They will obviously fail as the Islam Aqeeda is undefeatable and cannot be changed into a new religion - SECULARISM - Moderate Islam.

Also please check out the 3 links below as they are both tied in with the same attempt to pervert islam in the West.

Not only are the kaffirs cowards on the battlefield but they are also intellectualy cowards.

They may try and write and rewrite Islam, they may even try and define Islam for us, they can even get their agents these so called scholars and Islamic groups to do the dirty work but Allah is the protector of this deen.

He (swt) will look after his deen.

it is suprising how the kaffir seem to think they know about islam than the muslims. The enemies of islam are the ones dictating to the muslims about what should be learnt? The likes of tariq ramadan etc know very well which team they are playing for and they are the ones we need to watch out for. The enemies of islam had set their agenda from day one so it doesnt come as a suprise.

Blairs Imams will carry the curse and shame of being trained by the government which will make them ineffective in preaching their corruption int the name of Islam, assuming that £1 million goes along way in achieving their objective when they have spent billions over the years and centuries in fighing |Islam, to no avail.

"Verily, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to hinder (men) from the path of Allah, and so will they continue to spend it; but in the end it will become an anguish for them. Then they will be overcome. And those who disbelieve will be gathered unto Hell."

the above coincides with a survey that was carried out by channel 4 news, which found :-

some 24 per cent of Britain's two million Muslims believe that the government may have had a role in staging the 7 July 2005 suicide attacks on a bus and underground trains.

A quarter think that the four men named as the killers of 52 passengers on the London transport system were not necessarily responsible for the attacks

More than half of those polled also felt the security services were likely have made up evidence to convict terror suspects – as actually happened in earlier, non-Muslim related miscarriages of justice such as the cases of the Birmingham six and the Guilford four (related to IRA violence).

Muslims subsequently interviewed by Channel 4 News believed that the CCTV images of the four men arriving at Luton station en route to London were ''faked'' and cast doubt on the two “martyrdom videos” of Mohammed Sidique Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, who admitted responsibility for the 7/7 bombs.

Goes to show that the attempts of the kufar to subdue the muslims to integrate and abandon islam are failing, thats why blair has to cry out to his "friends" who call them selves moderates to do help him, a desperate attempt in a war they are undoubtedly losing.

Remember how the Unbelievers plotted against thee, to keep thee in bonds, or slay thee, or get thee out (of thy home). They plot and plan, and Allah too plans; but the best of planners is Allah. (8,30)

just some background information on this siddiqui chap. He is from the Markfield institute. This placce in leicester is linked to Jamaat i Islami of Pakistan and the MAB and FOSIS groups. The comments made have been in line with the agenda of these organisations. Yet a further example of how these groups are enemies of Islam and prefer to integrate with the Kuffar rather than defend their iddeology.
