Salaam,
I finally managed to watch this Panorama programme on the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/panorama/5209466.stm).
My opinion is that this is all part of the War on Islam (otherwise known as the War on Terror). We need to make the Ummah aware that this battle is more than just a physical battle but also an ideological battle to win hearts and minds. I personally don't agree with Hamas entirely nor with the opinions of Shaykh Qaradawi and I also feel they are being used by America as tools to promote their agenda of democracy.
What we must remind the Ummah is the fact that Islam is not just a spiritual religion, it is a complete way of life, which means politics is a big part of it and verses of the Quran to do with government, economics and ruling are absent today. What is being attacked in the program is not just Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood but the Islamic concepts to do with ruling and jihad. Hamas does have a lot of support in the Gaza Strip area amongst muslims as they are the ones who are doing the work such as running schools, orphanages and hospitals.
The sad thing is many Muslims today don’t see the rest of Islam and only confine themselves to the spiritual aspects and think that is enough. However, the revival of the Muslims is taking place and from what I can see is in the final stages of completion. The only thing that will truly bring us victory by the will of Allah (swt) is if Islam is bought back to the level is once was so Islam is applied in all sphere’s of life by pledging our allegiance to a sincere Islamic Leader (Imam / Khalif), so that the Muslim lands are united, the armies are united, the colonialist borders are removed and the muslims become One Ummah. This is the solution to our problems.
So the question you may ask is why are they attacking Islam? If we look at the Quran Allah (swt) tells us why:
{….Nor will they cease fighting you until they turn you back from your faith if they can. And if any of you turn back from their faith and die in unbelief, their works will bear no fruit in this life and in the Hereafter; they will be companions of the Fire and will abide therein.} Surah Al Baqarah:217
{Never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with you unless you follow their form of religion (millah). Say: “The Guidance of Allah,-that is the only guidance.” Were you to follow their desire after the knowledge which has reached you, then would you find neither protector nor helper against Allah.} Surah Al Baqarah:120
{They wish to extinguish Allah's Light with their mouths, but Allah will not allow but that His Light should be perfected, even though the disbelievers may hate it.} Surah at-Tawba:32
So as long as you profess you are a Muslim, the false religions and ideologies will always continue fighting you physically and ideologically until you leave Islam. Examples, Shaytan not Bowing to Adam (as) and wowing to lead man astray, the Pharoh fighting Prophet Musa (as), the Quraysh fighting the Prophet (saw), the Romans and Persians fighting the Muslims, the Crusaders at time of Salahudeen (ra), and today the Capitalists, Secularists, Democracts and Zionists.
So the question we need to ask ourselves is what do we do about it? Do we take part in democracy? Do we open up charities to deal with each problem happening? Do we do carry strap ourselves with explosives?
My opinion is that that none of the above are the correct way of solving this crises. What we need to do is follow the same footsteps that the Prophet (saw) undertook in Mekkah when he was trying to create the group (the Sahaba), when they were sufficient in number they pledged their alliegance to the Prophet (saw) to be their leader, later to rule
Madina with the Laws that were being revealed.
So today we should work with groups that are working on this method to bring back the Islamic ruling by carrying the Islamic Dawah in our localities and be part of this battle of ideas so that the Deen of Islam prevails over all other Deens and brings back justice and fairness that once existed so this oppression and tyranny is removed so the world in the 21st is governed by the Quran and the Sunnah and the world becomes a much more better place.
“He it is Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions, though the polytheists may hate it” Surah Tawbah:33
