An-Najafi (ra) was a Shi’ah scholar butchered because of his call for jihad and his attack on Sistani. Al-Baghdadi is another from the Shi'ah ulema who rejects American plans.

Badr Brigades suspected in murder of Shi‘i religious leader who sharply criticized pro-American Shi‘i cleric ‘Ali as-Sistani.
The pro-American Shi‘i sectarian Badr Brigades are reported to have assassinated Shi ‘ religious leader ‘Ali an-Najafi on Sunday morning a week after the Shi‘i scholar denounced pro-American Shi‘i religious authority ‘Ali as-Sistani in a Friday sermon.
The Mafkarat al-Islam correspondent in an-Najaf reported sources as saying that ‘Ali an-Najafi had given a sermon in which he accused as-Sistani of undermining the Islamic pillar of jihad. An-Najafi said that ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib, the founder of Shi‘i Islam, would have the heads of the likes of as-Sistani before fighting infidels if they were to come back to life today. An-Najafi reportedly accused as-Sistani and other pro-American Shi‘i clerics of maintaining silence over the shedding of Sunni Muslim blood and even giving their blessings to that killing.
An-Najafi said that as-Sistani, who is Iranian, does not speak Arabic and does not read the Qur’an even if he is a religious authority.
Sources told Mafkarat al-Islam that an-Najafi disappeared immediately after delivering the sharply worded sermon and stayed at home. But an armed force, believed to be Badr Brigade gunmen, attacked an-Najafi’s home in the al-Qadisiyah neighborhood on Sunday morning. At the time of reporting the home had been surrounded ever since the morning with no one able to approach it.
