“… no matter what Islam is now or was in the past, it will be something different in the future.” Daniel Pipes [Director of Middle East Forum]
For those following the twists and turns of the War on “Terror” or “Extremism” will know this is indeed a war against Islam aimed at securing a new “modernised” Islam that submits to the Western notions of society and civilisation. Some analysts have called this “religion-building”. This is the primary reason why the US invaded and continues to occupy Iraq, as former Deputy Defence Secretary Paul Wolfowitz said on the eve of invasion “We need an Islamic reformation”.
For some time now the Western authorities have sought to divide Muslims according to various definitions; reformers, moderates, traditionalists, fundamentalist, extremists, radicals, ultra-orthodox, Sunni and Shia’ are just some, with the aim of exploiting these differences. The Rand Report released December 2004 articulates this policy. The report recommends a number of options including: promote the creation of moderate networks to counter radical messages; support “civil Islam”; deny resources to extremists and seek to engage Islamists in ‘normal’ politics.
It is clear the authorities are acting on these recommendations and the recent events in London, which some have argued have been perpetrated by the security services, have acted as the catalyst by which the authorities are looking to mobilise and empower what they call the “moderates”. By allying themselves with the “moderates”, the intention is to deal with issues that are deemed problematic and inconsistent with the Western notions of society and civilisation; such as the Islamic ruling system (Sultaniyya or Khilafah), aspects of the Islamic punishment system (hudud), the Islamic conquests (Al-Jihad), the structure of the Islamic family etc. One issue that is particularly problematic for the Western authorities is the concept of one Ummah and its consequences for their campaign to suppress Islam. Given these issues the Western authorities are looking to facilitate new “interpretations” of the Islamic texts i.e. the reformation of Islam. This is not too dissimilar to the reformation that took place in the West, the struggle between the church (religion) and the free thinkers (knowledge), which led to the adoption of Secularism.
The problems we face in our societies occur due to the absence of Islam. Thus, the solution for our problems is Islam and to mould ourselves around the Islamic Aqeeda comprehensively and exclusively. Islam does not need a reformation nor can this Deen ever be changed to fit our reality, no matter how hard they try, but rather society needs to change to fit Islam. Recall, it was Islam that raised the status of women, made her a mother, a scholar, a warrior, a judge and an example to be followed. Recall, it was Islam that eradicated poverty in Africa and enlightened Europe in her Dark Ages. This is because Islam is the way of life revealed by the creator Himself (swt). It is the absence of Islam (which they call the "Evil ideology") and the domination of their evil ideology, Capitalism which has created misery on the earth.
Dear Muslim brothers and sisters, we need to remind ourselves our return is to Allah (swt) to whom we are going to be accountable, punished and rewarded. Allah Himself has said “Never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with you unless you follow their way of life.” [TMQ 20:120] The intentions of the authorities are not benign - they are people whose criteria is expediency and will not squirm at killing, torturing or raping to preserve their evil ideology against the liberation of Islam. We have seen the Western authorities introduce the act of kidnapping individuals to fly them out to countries where they can be tortured; the introduction of raping young men and boys in Iraqi prisons; and sufficient evidence to conclude that the authorities are orchestrating terrorists’ attacks in order to generate public support.
Dear Muslim brothers and sisters, you are indeed the noblest of all creatures; you believe in that which has been revealed by the Creator (swt), you believe in His servant Muhammad (saw) and you are have been designated the vanguards of His message as He says “Believers, men and women, are protectors, one of another: they enjoin all that is right and forbid all that is evil.” [TMQ 9:71] It is to you to whom Allah addresses when He says “O you who believe…” Allah does not address the scholars, the imams or the leaders, but to you, the believers, men and women. It is you, your revival on the basis of Islam that the West fears. It is you who can truly liberate man from the worship of creation to the worship of the one Creator. “O you who believe! Bow down prostrate yourselves and adore your Lord; and do good; that you may prosper. And strive in His cause as you ought to strive: He has chosen you and has imposed no difficulties on you in way of life; it is the religion of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims both before and in this (Revelation); that the Apostle may be a witness for you and you be witnesses for mankind!” [TMQ 22: 77-78] As Muhammad (saw) conveyed the message of Allah to us, as we acknowledge his leadership over us and as he implemented Islam upon us; we are obliged to convey the message of Allah to the rest of mankind and be the leaders of mankind and to implement Islam upon the rest of mankind rejecting this new religion of "Moderate" Islam.
